Blue Mountains National Park
A break in the weather led to a day of exploring in the Blue Mountains National Park. Society members Nell, Bella, Archie, Hamy, Pippa and Dan made the long descent down over 300 steps from the Picnic area past the cliff-edge Fletchers Lookout to the very top of the Falls, where Jamison Creek cascades into a shallow pool to one side and the magnificent Jamison Valley opens out on the other.
Highlights of the walk included a very cool sandstone arch and cave, some spectacular views of the Falls and the valley, selecting the perfect sticks as hiking poles and a long hike along a bush track to some excellent climbing rocks. Pippy carried her favourite ‘ooh ooh’ the entire way, except when insisting on being swung by both arms - including on the rather long climb back to the carpark! The waterfalls were very active after recent rains and an overcast sky made for dramatic views and good walking conditions.
Total distance of the hike was around 6 km. Lots of steps!
Above the Jamison Valley. This was on our way down.
Waterfall, Hamy being a clown, Archie being super cool and Pippy’s beloved ooh-ooh held tight.
An excellent track name! We did not have time this trip, but it’s on the list for next time.
